The Union Apartments

The Union Apartments, a four-story complex in Wheeling, Illinois,  features 53 units ranging in size from 700 to 1,200 S.F. and offers 27 three-bedroom, 12 two-bedroom, and 14 one-bedroom options. The structure includes 3,000 S.F. of community space with a WIFI cafe. There is parking for 120 vehicles.

The structure, framed in light-gauge metal, has brick, fiber cement, and metal panel exterior walls. Targeted as affordable workforce housing, The Union Apartments provide easy access to shopping, entertainment, and recreational opportunities. It is also close to the Metra train station with commuter passenger service to downtown Chicago and its north-central line from River Grove to Antioch.

Henry Bros. was involved from the earliest design phases, (and extended pre-development phase) providing comprehensive preconstruction services for the owner and A/E team to ensure prudent, well-informed decisions, and optimal alignment of the design and construction cost.

Funding for this project included IHDA tax credits, along with other sources of capital.
