Glencoe Park District Improvements
Originally built as an elementary school in 1928, the project at the Glencoe Park District Takiff Center included extensive renovations, remodeling, and new construction. The improved Community Center now provides space for cultural and social programs, including space for education, athletics, and fitness programs along with administration areas. Central elements of the project include a new gymnasium, a new entrance, life-safety updates, new plumbing, HVAC improvements, and window replacements.
The existing gym was transformed into studio space for aerobics, dance, and karate. An upper floor was added for early childhood rooms. The space that was formerly used for kindergarten and fitness classes was converted into meeting rooms and a large function space.
A new main entrance at the north end of the facility accesses this portion of the Community Center and the new gym.
